Pinnacles
Sun, 15 Apr 2007: Months ago, me and Jeffrey decided that we needed to go to Pinnacles National Monument, this sort of otherworldly extinct volcano place where they have all kinds of unusual rock formations, wildflowers, bat caves, California Condors and miles and miles of hiking trails.

So we went down there yesterday morning, me, Jeffrey and Gloria. Got up at the crack of dawn. Hiked up to the summit, stopped for lunch. Then there we are at the top of the summit, maybe 2 and a half miles from where we parked, and it started to rain.

The straight poop
Sat, 07 Apr 2007: Years ago, this little plastic bunny with one eye showed up in my Easter basket, and I wasn't sure at first what to do with him.

But then I turned him upside down and saw this round hole in his little bunny butt, and I gave his head a quarter turn in a clockwise direction, and his head came off, revealing this inner cavity, and I realized, hey, this guy is a jellybean dispenser. You fill him up with jellybeans, and then you push down on his head, and he squats down and jellybeans pop out.

You need to grab that pitchfork and some seed packets and do some gardening chores with me. That'll perk you right up!"

Smells like Springtime!
Fri, 30 Mar 2007: Tomato planting season is nearly upon us here in El Cerrito, but there's more to growing my world famous Liberty Avenue heirlooms than just sticking some seedlings in the ground.

First you got to hoe up them weeds. Oh man. They seem to get more tenacious every year. I swear I'm gonna take a bazooka to the neighbor's honeysuckle.

Viva la Della!
Fri, 23 Mar 2007: I took my friend's 12-year-old out to Point Bonita Saturday.

Point Bonita is a great place for kids. It's part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and there's all kinds of bunkers and things from World War II to climb around on.
