Salmon weather

OK, so Saturday I mentioned we were going to Angel Island, and that was why I had to run out to R.E.I. and buy my special patented FannyTech underwear.

Well, Jeffrey suggested we should go someplace new, and I said, well, that's fine, as long as it's someplace cold because I didn't just spend sixty-five dollars on scientifically engineered Canadian BVDs so I can stroll the antique mall in Gilroy.

Turns out Jeffrey had never been to Samuel P. Taylor State Park, a lovely sun dappled spot down at the bottom of a canyon out in Marin County, so that's where we began our day.

They have a salmon stream there, and we actually saw four or five salmon swimming upstream on their way to their spawning grounds.

Those salmon spend most their lives in the Pacific Ocean, so they like it cold. Really cold. Really really cold.

You'll notice there aren't any pictures of Tony in this latest batch of images. That's because he got as far as the first salmon viewing area, and said "I'm going back to the car, and I'm taking the thermos."

Jeffrey and I soldiered on and made it as far as the Pioneer Tree. I don't know about Jeffrey, but I was perfectly comfortable. I guess those thermals were really worth the dough. It might have been January on the Pioneer Tree Trail, but it was Springtime in my underpants!
