It was a fun trip to Hollywood and the L.A. County Art Museum, but, sadly two of the landmarks that I remembered so fondly from our trip 12 years ago, Johnnie's Fat Boy and the International Male Boutique are just memories.
Well, I guess Johnnie's Fat Boy isn't exactly a memory. I mean, it's still there. It's just not a restaurant anymore. It's being rented out for movies. I guess it's kind of a what you call a historical artifact.
Speaking of which, the King Tut exhibit was fantastic! Just blew me away. It was worth every mind-numbing minute of the six-hour drive on I-5.
We did get to see plenty of Hollywood glamour while we were down there at the Ramada on Santa Monica Boulevard. Like I said, no International Male Store, and we never did make it down to the Beverly Center or Rodeo Drive, but Tony picked himself out some new sunglasses at the Von's.
And then after dinner we realized we'd forgotten to pack toothpaste, so I walked down to the SaveOn on La Cienega, and I could swear I saw Ann Miller, but then I remembered she died last year.
I guess it was a female impersonator.
Oh well. Saved two bucks with my Albertson's card anyway.
