Last night was our first night overnight trip since we became parents. We left the kid at the Pink House with Uncle Jeffrey.
Yesterday they spent four hours in Chuckie Cheese. Take a moment to think about that. Four hours.
In Chuckie Cheese!
It's a good thing I showed Jeffrey where we keep the Scotch.
Tony wanted to go spend the night at the Oakland Marriot, which nothing against the Oakland Marriot, it's a lovely place, but I go for an overnight trip someplace, I want culture and sophistication.
That's why I held out for Carson City.
Yes, Carson City. Last night we went for a stroll down the main drag here, and there's so much history here. The Pony Express used to come through downtown Carson City, and the first ever U.S. highway, the Lincoln Highway, went right through the center of town.
And there's this wide variety of architectural styles here. Everything from frontier type wood frame structures to the WPA splendor of the Attorney General's Office (built in 1937) to the classic casino sleekness of the Nugget and Cactus Jack's.
Plus you can't play Keno in the coffee shop at the Oakland Marriot.
