can't stop the music

(originally published november 2000.)

well, here's some classic kurttrue.com. this charming anecdote was was buried in an old ssi file. got an email from overseas asking about it, so it's back on the new and improved site.

note to the person who wrote me from overseas: send me your url again so i can link back to it. i can't find your email! thanks.

okay. okay. i know i haven't done much with the novel. i've been busy at work.

also, i just recently ran off to the happiest place on earth for my 40th birthday.

four stars for mr. toad's wild ride, baby. can't remember if they had that one when i was a kid. what a stone groove!

me and pluto

and you know something, i hadn't been on the jungle cruise in 30 years, and they haven't changed a thing. i was surprised those animatronic animals still work after being exposed to the elements for all these decades. talk about your reliable technology! maybe those disney imagineers can be pursuaded to make voting machines for all those poor confused people in florida. like maybe in order to vote, you'd have to sit in a little boat and listen to "it's a small world' until you completely dislodge your chads.

and as if i don't have enough controversy in my life, my high school alumni association deleted a series of messages that i'd posted to their bulletin board that had to do with "can't stop the music", starring bruce jenner, valerie perrine and the village people. i guess they thought it wasn't relevant to the high school experience. well, maybe not their high school experience.

so i guess i'm going to have to put up my own bulletin board, and, honey, we are going to talk about "can't stop the music" until you're sick to death of it!
